It is a hotel that truly embodies the concept of respectful repurposing, or the transformation of historical structures or those with cultural significance without compromising their value on so many different levels.
One of the most striking interior design aspects of The August is the way van Duysen kept part of the original ceilings. Some of the rooms located directly beneath the original convent’s wooden roof have retained the sloping, natural wood beam ceilings.
